NEW STOFF...

Lady Gaga by Terry Richardson, Minnie Mouse Tee - Urban Outfitters
I loved the idea of seeing what Lady Gaga wears when she's not in the public eye, what she looks like in the morning without her killer eyeliner and generally just owning an amazing book of photographs. However I was a bit skeptical in purchasing it - not due to the extortionate price, £35, as i had found a copy half price online - but because of the man who was enlisted to capture these behind-the-scenes moments of her life. Terry Richardson. After reading an article, which i could have sworn was in Vogue (my attention span will not last as long as it'll take to locate the article amongst my large collection and check, i apologise.) about the famed fashion photographer who's done campaigns for  Miu Miu, Gucci, Diesel, Nike, and shot people like Sky Ferreira and Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen; my view on him changed as i read of the controversial photographer's photo shoots that really push the boundaries of what is appropriate - in fashion as well as professionally. In a similar article, Richardson is described as: 'He takes girls who are young, manipulates them to take their clothes off and takes pictures of them they will be ashamed of. They are too afraid to say no because their agency booked them on the job and are too young to stand up for themselves.' - Read the full article here. So did i really want to support this man and buy his photography?! The pull of this much hyped book was admittedly stronger than my mild attempt at some sort of feminist revolt, which i'm quite pleased about because it's truly a magical book, whether shot by a sleazy man or not

feels so good to blog again,
i've missed you guys!
